Found reviewing the main window, its dialogs and the Directory in all 25 palettes (13 themes,
light and dark), in Playwright against the test daemon.
- #298: an item's title is a button, so Tab and a screen reader can open it; the feed list's
rows, places, Signals and the Directory's shows are links to a screen reader (asLink), named
by what they show, the open one aria-current. Not role=button, which would flatten a folder's
triangle inside it.
- #299: .ep:focus-within shows the row's actions; Tab reached Play and Delete at opacity 0.
- #300: the read toggle is named Mark read / Mark unread, the dot hidden from screen readers.
- #301: the seek slider is named Position, its value read as "12:30 of 45:00".
- #302: ::placeholder in --faint; the browser's grey was 2.7-4.4:1 in 20 palettes. The search
and filter boxes have names that do not depend on their placeholder.
- #303: #toasts is role=status; an error toast stays until dismissed, at most four at once.
- #304: api() says what to do when iPX cannot be reached or answers 500 (whose text is the
daemon's internals, already in its log); play() failures are put in words and reported, an
AbortError ignored; a failed download names its item.
- #305, #308: --field, the theme's --fg mixed into --bg in OKLab (--fieldmix, 60% and up to 80%
for Catppuccin light), edges text boxes, selects, chips, the OPML box and switch tracks,
phones included, and rings a light theme's switch knob. tests/contrast.js holds it to 3:1 on
bg, panel, panel2 and raise in every palette. --line stays for rules. Fields lose outline:0,
so they take the same focus ring as everything else.
- #306: openModal makes the card role=dialog aria-modal, labelled by its heading, focuses it,
and makes the rest of the body inert until closeModal, which gives focus back to what opened
it. Not <dialog>: its top layer would cover the toasts and their Dismiss.
- #307: the labels in Add a feed, Settings, Download latest and OPML point at their boxes.
- #309: Settings shows iPX's and the page's versions at its foot.

hide_from_signals on a subscription, on an OPML or creator covering every
show in it, as hide_from_all does for All Subscriptions: the judge does
not put its items to Jev, and each Signal's list and counts leave them
out. shown_in() is the one SQL rule for both.
The settings dialog had grown one captioned setting at a time into a
single column, one part boxed and the rest not. It is in named parts now,
the name in a column beside the controls and above them on a phone, ruled
apart; All Subscriptions and Signals carry the sidebar's icons. The
address, the same for everyone, moves to the foot.

A switch in the feed's settings, In All Subscriptions, on its
subscription as hide_from_all. All Subscriptions' list and count leave
out a feed hidden on its own or through the OPML it is in, and the page's
unread count does the same. Signals read every feed as before, and
Currently Listening, which is All Subscriptions' in-progress filter, keeps
an episode under way whatever the feed's setting.

A Signal is a name and keywords. A task beside DeadAir's asks TypeSafe's Jev, on the owner's own
key, about each item of their subscribed feeds from the last 30 days and every new one: one call
an item, one noul question for each of their Signals still to hear about it, 0.5 or more a fit.
Every verdict is kept, fitting or not, in signal_verdicts, so nothing is asked twice, and new
keywords drop a Signal's verdicts to be judged afresh. A key TypeSafe refuses (401/402/403) is
passed over until its owner saves another, so a bad key is not sent the whole queue.
A Signal's items come through entries_where with an EXISTS on its hits, so filters, search, sort
and read state are an ordinary list's, and reading an item in a Signal reads it in its feed.
The page shows Signals under the places, with New signal, and Settings takes the TypeSafe key,
which is never sent back. The browser suite stubs Jev in the fixture server (IPX_TYPESAFE_URL).

A click on a feed, All Subscriptions or a filter fetched the list and only then drew it, so
nothing answered the click until the server did. The page now keeps the first page of each list
(the newest 40, by view, filter, sort and search), draws a kept one at once and refreshes it
behind, drawing again only if it changed. It fetches ahead: All Subscriptions and the twenty
feeds with the most unread once the page is idle, two at a time, and a feed or filter when the
pointer or a finger reaches it. A feed_row or a read forgets that feed's lists and All
Subscriptions'; the forgotten are fetched again behind. A list with nothing kept shows a
spinner if its answer takes more than 120 ms.
list_shown (#246) is reported when the list first shows, so a kept one reports its few ms.

$<T> returns the element type it is given and assumes the element is there: 122 lookups take
their type from the tag their id is on in the markup. A handler reads its target through a
cast, since a typed element will not take a handler whose event names a narrower target.
strictNullChecks found no bug the page had; its 94 places were values the code already handles
in ways the type-check could not follow (data- attributes the page writes, a map entry set the
line before, Share drawn only for an item with a link), each now said so.
isPlayable stays a plain boolean: as a type guard its false would have meant "no file", and it
is also false for a file that is not audio or video.

290 places the type-check could not see into, mostly parameters, now typed with web/src/types.ts
(feeds, items, files, accounts, log lines, the directory's rows and items). Two changes run
differently in form only: the seek and volume inputs divide Number(value) where they divided
the string, and esc's table has a name. Null checks are #236.

The buttons followed the feeds being checked, so they stopped between one feed and the next;
7ecbe82 held them for 600 ms over each gap. Now pressing one starts it, and scan_done stops
it only when it is the end of the scan asked for: scan_done carries `only` and `forced`, so a
scheduled scan finishing first does not stop a button whose scan is queued behind it. An
error event, a job that failed without a scan_done, stops them all.
A row's spinner stood in for its unread count from the moment its feed was checked; most
checks take milliseconds, so each count blinked as the scan went by. It now waits 300 ms.

A scan checks its feeds one at a time; in the gap between two the body class came off, the
icon snapped back upright and the spin restarted, many times a second with fetches ahead.
The class now comes off only after 600 ms with nothing being checked.

Checking every feed made all the feeds' icons in the feed list flash while it ran. A check sends
each feed's new row as it reads the feed, and renderFeeds, run once a frame while they come in,
emptied the list and built every row anew, every <img> with it: each icon went blank and was
loaded and drawn again, many times a second through a scan of 150 feeds.
The rows are still rebuilt, but the images already drawn go into the new ones in place of the
fresh copies, matched by their markup, so only an icon that has changed is made anew. A browser
test checks the rows are new and the images in them the same elements, and fails without this.

The Directory was one grid of every listed feed, 1,472 in production, under Podcasts and Blogs
tabs, a wall of about 30 category buttons and a sort menu, with a picked category's
subcategories appearing as a second row of buttons that looked like the first. It read as a
list to scroll, and the two rows were hard to tell apart.
It opens now on the ten most subscribed feeds, ranked, and the categories as tiles, each with
three of its shows' covers fanned in its corner on the tint its initials would get, so the
shows colour it and no theme's palette changes. A category has a page of its own: its most
subscribed, its subcategories with how many each holds, and its grid. See all is every feed,
as the grid was. Podcasts or Blogs holds across every page. Popular, the ten most subscribed,
had a place of its own in the feed list; it is the Directory's first section instead, and its
key, g p, is gone. /api/popular stays for scripts.
The search box finds a feed in the Directory by name (#126). It said "Search items…" there and
did nothing, since loadEntries returns early for a place that lists feeds.
A feed you do not subscribe to opens a page of its own (#128): its cover, category (a link to
that category's page), how many here subscribe, a subscribe button and its latest twenty items,
each with its title, linking to the post where it has one, its first lines, date and length.
Before, a click on it did nothing; only its + did. The items come from GET /api/directory/{id},
which answers only for a feed the Directory lists, so a guessed id reaches nothing private, and
carries no file or its address. The feed's own description would belong at the top, but the
database does not keep one.
Every tile and chart row takes the keyboard, as the feed list's rows do. Feed text made plain
keeps a space at a line break or a paragraph's end, which glued "2010)Recorded" together.

The Directory always listed A to Z, as the server sends it. A menu beside its filters now
sorts it A to Z, Z to A or by most subscribers (then by name), in the page, without asking
the server again, and the choice stays while the pane is redrawn, as the filters do. The
blurb no longer says A to Z, since it may not be.

The pin was a small accent-coloured icon before the feed's name. It is now a disc on the
artwork's corner, where a failing feed's mark is, in the accent and the ink the theme already
pairs with it for primary buttons (checked by tests/contrast.js), so no palette changes. A feed
both pinned and failing keeps the error mark at the bottom corner and the pin at the top.

After a feed was checked, failed or downloaded a file, and after every item read, the page
fetched /api/feeds whole, about 60 ms for 160 rows, though one row had changed. The live event
stream now knows who is connected and, after an event that changes a feed, sends that person
its row (feed_row), built by the same code as the list (feed_rows, with Db::feed_list asked for
one feed). Marking an item read answers with the feed's row. The page puts the row in place
and redraws once a frame. A routine skip of a feed not due sends nothing.

Fetching was 65-90% of a scan, each feed waiting for the one before: 13 s of fetches in a 20 s
refresh of 32 feeds. The scan now works out which feeds are due, fetches their bodies up to six
ahead in tasks of their own, and handles each in order as before, so database writes,
downloads and OPML syncs stay one at a time. A Patreon creator still fetches in scan_one.
The page reloaded /api/feeds, and /api/settings with it, on every scan_done: the scheduler
scans every minute, so each open page reloaded the list once a minute, 169 times an hour. It
now reloads only when the scan checked a feed, and asks for settings once, on first load.

The mark was a 12px "!" in the sidebar's margin, told apart by --bad alone; a dark theme's --bad
is a pale pink, and at that size it vanished. It is now a solid disc on the artwork's corner, the
subtitle says what is wrong in place of the counts, and a feed failing for a day or more has its
artwork greyed out. Lightness and words carry it, so no theme's palette changes.

The feed events already put a spinner on the sidebar row, which a phone
hides. The same state now sets scan-this (the open feed, or a feed in the
open folder) and scan-any (any of your feeds) on <body>, and the refresh
icons turn under them. On <body> because the feed page is redrawn as items
come in.

The scan's events reach everyone, so every browser showed "<feed>: N new" and
"Scanning…" toasts, and refreshed, for everyone's feeds. Now a feed's row, and
its folder's, carries a spinner between feed_start and its done, skip or error;
the list refreshes only for the reader's own feeds; the scan toasts are gone, and
"Downloaded" is said only for a file on screen.
"Check every feed" from the web UI sent a scan of every feed on the server.
Command::Fetch takes an optional `feeds` list -- those feeds and the feeds
inside any OPML among them -- and the web fills it with the asker's
subscriptions. The schedule and the CLI send none, meaning every feed.

subscriptions.pinned, per person, set by PATCH /api/feeds/{id} {pinned} and
returned as FeedRow.pinned. Kept out of Sub, which the scanner merges into its
policy; set_subscription names its columns, so saving a feed's settings leaves
the pin alone (tested).
Pinned feeds come first in the list, a pin before the name and a rule under the
block: a pinned folder with its feeds under it, a feed from inside one lifted out
of it. The pin button is on both the feed and the folder page.

- The logo as favicon, squared up (it is 128x121), at /favicon.png and at
/favicon.ico outside the auth layer, where a browser asking on its own got a
401; an apple-touch-icon on white (#32).
- An item not yet downloaded had its download bar on a line of its own under the
file icon, lifting the icon above its row's; the bar now sits under it without
taking space (#31).
- A feed error is Font Awesome's exclamation, hung in the margin where a folder's
triangle is, in the same column; a folder holding a failing feed has its
triangle turn red.

- web/src/*.ts: the script that was inline in index.html and login.html, split along its
existing sections. Still one scope, concatenated in order, not modules.
- web/build.mjs strips the types, puts the script in the page and minifies it with swc;
build.rs runs it into OUT_DIR and web.rs include_str!s the result. 137 KB -> 106 KB.
- npx tsc -p . type-checks web/src, loosely; the handful of annotations it needed
change no behaviour.
- The Docker build installs node and swc (npm ci --omit=dev).
- Two list requests racing no longer let the older one win, and switching tabs clears
the selection it closes, which made a browser test flaky.
Closes#23, #24.
