A feed's row swaps its unread count for a spinner while the feed is being checked (.feed.scanning .badge, #37). Most feeds are checked in a few milliseconds now that they are fetched ahead, so each count blinks out and back, unchanged, as the scan passes it. Reported 2026-10-14.

Fixed in a5e64e5, deployed in ipx-web 1.0.2-dev: a row's spinner, which takes the place of its unread count, waits until the feed has been checked for 300 ms, so quick checks leave the count where it is.
