Production's ffmpeg (Debian's 5.1) refused the copy of Brad & Will's 359, 520 cuts: "Error initializing bitstream filter: bsf_list". The frames to drop are one expression, between(...)+between(...)+..., which nests a level per term; 5.1 takes 100 and refuses 200. The 6.1 the tests ran on took all 520. Grouped as a balanced tree it nests about 12 deep, and 5.1 takes 4000 terms that way.
A failure was also stored as the file having no copy, so it would never have been tried again, even after the fix was deployed. Found right after deploying #173, 2026-10-09.
Fixed in
a67b949: the frames to drop are summed as a balanced tree, and a failure is remembered only until the next start. Deployed after removing the one failure the old build had stored. 359 then got its copy: 520 cuts, 195 s shorter (64:33 to 61:17), made in 7.3 s, decodes clean with production's ffmpeg 5.1.
