cnn-com was added as 'cnn.com'. Every check failed with 'connecting: builder error: relative URL without a base': the address was stored as typed, with no scheme, so reqwest refused it before looking for the site's feed. Adding a website's address is meant to find the feed it links. Wanted: an address with no scheme is read as https:// (then http:// if that fails) before it is stored. Found 2026-09-29 in the feeds table while looking at failing feeds.
Fixed in
9084b61: expand_input makes an address typed without a scheme https (and //host/path too), on the web page and in ipx add. Deployed. https only: nearly every site answers on it, and an http-only one can still be added with http:// typed. For cnn.com in particular it now reaches the site, but CNN's page links no feed and its RSS (rss.cnn.com) stopped in April 2023, so there is nothing to subscribe to; see the next issue.
