The glass panels have only a 1px highlight along the top edge, which reads as flat next to Apple's Liquid Glass, where the rim catches the light at one corner and fades toward the other, and a soft sheen sits inside. Refraction of the live page needs backdrop-filter: url(), which Firefox and Safari do not support, and the WebGL libraries (liquid-glass-js, liquidGL) refract a snapshot that goes stale on a scrolling list, so the edge light is the part that can be done everywhere, in CSS.

Fixed in a573a07: glass surfaces get a rim lit from the top-left, a fainter one on the far edges, and a sheen from the top-left corner; tests/contrast.js checks text against the sheen. Deployed.
