The Directory in production lists Football (6 feeds), Soccer (7) and "Soccer," (2) as top-level categories next to Sports, and Software How-To (2) beside Technology. Found from /api/directory on 2026-10-05.
category_path matches a feed's itunes:category against CATEGORIES in src/feed.rs, which spells two of Apple's Sports subcategories "American Football" and "Football (Soccer)". Apple's own list, and the feeds, say Football and Soccer, so they fall through as categories of their own. A trailing comma in the feed's text ("Soccer,") makes a third. Software How-To is Apple's old Technology subcategory, from before the 2019 list.
Fixed in
0b4f544: CATEGORIES uses Apple's Football and Soccer, the old spellings and Software How-To are aliases, and a trailing comma or full stop is dropped. Deployed 2026-10-05: production's Directory has no Football, Soccer, "Soccer," or Software How-To categories; Sports went from 66 feeds to 81.
